The Preserver of the universe and the Goddess of fortune and grace. Together they sustain the world — upholding dharma, protecting the devoted, and blessing homes with harmony and abundance.

Salutations to the all-pervading Lord, the indwelling divine in every heart.
Vishnu is the Preserver — the calm at the centre of the cosmos, reclining on the serpent Shesha upon the ocean of milk. We turn to him for protection, steadiness in adversity, and the strength to live righteously. His avatars, Rama and Krishna, show dharma lived in human form, and prayer to Vishnu is a prayer to walk that path.
Lakshmi is the Goddess of shri — wealth in its fullest sense: prosperity, health, beauty, harmony and spiritual grace. Households invoke her so that abundance flows with virtue; she is welcomed with light and cleanliness, and honoured not for greed but for the well-being of the family and the generosity it makes possible.
Thursdays & Fridays
Thursday is traditionally devoted to Vishnu and Friday to Lakshmi — days for fasting, offering yellow and lotus flowers, and chanting their names.
Ekadashi
The eleventh day of each lunar fortnight, sacred to Vishnu — observed with fasting, japa and reading of the Vishnu Sahasranama or the Bhagavad Gita.
Evening Lamp & Diwali
Lakshmi is welcomed at dusk with a lit lamp at the doorway; her great night is Diwali, when homes glow with diyas for Lakshmi Puja.
The names of Vishnu steady the heart; the mantras of Lakshmi open it. Chant with a clean space, a lit lamp if possible, and a spirit of gratitude.

Salutations to Narayana, the refuge of all beings. The eight-syllable mantra of surrender and protection — a lifelong companion for daily japa.
Medium Mantra · Vishnu Dhyana Shloka
शान्ताकारं भुजगशयनं पद्मनाभं सुरेशं विश्वाधारं गगनसदृशं मेघवर्णं शुभाङ्गम्। लक्ष्मीकान्तं कमलनयनं योगिभिर्ध्यानगम्यं वन्दे विष्णुं भवभयहरं सर्वलोकैकनाथम्॥
Shantakaram Bhujagashayanam Padmanabham Suresham, Vishwadharam Gaganasadrisham Meghavarnam Shubhangam; Lakshmikantam Kamalanayanam Yogibhir Dhyanagamyam, Vande Vishnum Bhavabhayaharam Sarvalokaikanatham.
I bow to Vishnu — the embodiment of peace, resting on the serpent, lotus-navelled, lord of the gods; support of the universe, vast as the sky, cloud-hued and beautiful; beloved of Lakshmi, lotus-eyed, reached by yogis in meditation — the remover of the fear of worldly existence, the one Lord of all worlds.

Salutations to the great Lakshmi, with her seed syllable Shreem — the vibration of abundance and grace. Chanted to invite prosperity that uplifts, never binds.

ॐ महालक्ष्म्यै च विद्महे विष्णुपत्न्यै च धीमहि तन्नो लक्ष्मीः प्रचोदयात्॥
Om Mahalakshmyai Cha Vidmahe, Vishnu Patnyai Cha Dhimahi, Tanno Lakshmih Prachodayat.
We know the great Lakshmi; we meditate upon the consort of Vishnu. May Lakshmi inspire and enlighten us, and turn our efforts toward true prosperity.
